Summary
The interview revolves mostly around Labelle (the music group Hendryx used to sing with): their formation and break-up, transition from the initial band called Bluebelles to Labelle at the advice of Vicki Wickham, a British manager, their work in the 60s, constant search for innovations, the continuous comparison to the more popular female group the Supremes, and the relationship among them after they disbanded. Hendryx also talks about her solo album (Epic) and the music she writes. She and Mewborn discuss other all female groups, their comeback into fashion, influential singers and groups that revolutionized the music world (Elvis Presley, Lionel Richie, Elton John, The Beatles), the necessity for performers to adapt to new trends, and various issues concerning the rock music industry.
