Summary
The story of Rodgers and Hammerstein is presented as a series of acts and scenes, with medleys of songs with Hammerstein lyrics and Rodgers' music. Various performers comment on and perform songs from the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook, including Ray Heatherton performing "Where or when", Ann Crowley singing "If I love you", William Ching and Annamary Dickey singing "A fellow needs a girl", and "People will say we're in love". Josh Logan, director of various R&H shows tells the story of how South Pacific became a musical, and Mary Martin speaks about her role in South Pacific and singing Oscar Hammerstien lyrics. Both Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are interviewed by Tex McCrary. Recording includes commercials for Bristol-Meyers products Ipana toothpaste and Vitalis hair creme, as well as Benex brushless shave.
