- Description
- 4 sound discs : digital, stereo.; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- The interview starts with the three discussing an unidentified show that closed after one night and which was the most expensive flop ever and then moves on a large range of topics: famous rock couples, the impact of aging on rock musicians and its , the sexuality of the performers as an important element, life in big cities, their generation, fashion as a statement and expression of thinking, culture in Japan where the band toured, the generalization of performers, and much more. Harry and Stein speak about changes in their social life due to their popularity and their adjustment to the new status and explain the origin of the name of the band, Blondie. They and Mewborn discuss a disparaging article about them and condemn the media which, in search of a sensation, publish aggressive material that can lead to tragic consequences as in John Lennon's case, and Stein expresses frustration at destructive journalism in general. They also discuss the tendency of famous performers to get involved in politics and to mix it with performing, and demonstrate political affiliations in order to have an influence. Harry accounts for her reluctance to follow such a pattern and for not engaging in other causes outside music and defines the essence of rock and roll and the importance of having a stage image. The recording has mechanical noise. The conversation contains a lot of obscenities on the part of Stein.
