- Text is taken from the Waco weekly tribune and the Waco times-herald (Waco, Tex.), April 1898, as published in: Brann, William Cowper, The complete works of Brann, the iconoclast. New York City : Brann Publishers, c1919, v. 12, p. 1 ff. Consists of eyewitness accounts and statements by participants in the gunfight that took place in Waco, Tex., on Apr. 1, 1898, in which journalist W.C. Brann and his assailant, Thomas E. Davis, were killed. The excerpts are fragmented, rearranged and presented as verse.
