Each page photocopied partially twice, in order to cover width of magazine page.
One copy with heavily emended first page of text and numerous crossings-out thereafter; the other annotated with date, translators' names, an "x" in the top margin of each page, and bearing the critical comment across top of first page: "An inept translation full of mistakes and omissions."
With green folder the contents of which are described by Dmitri Nabokov in blue pen on folder front and on white label affixed to folder front, and with galley-length tan envelope inscribed in pencil on front by Dmitri Nabokov with title and parenthetical statement "poor translation in Esquire Dec. 1939."
