- Additional Authors
- Vermeer, Johannes, 1632-1675.
- Description
- 51 p. : ill., maps; 22 cm.
- Summary
- Summary: The choice of part of the Voldersgracht as the location of Vermeer's "The little street" was based on the discovery of the remnants of two gateways on the Cadestral map of 1832. Over time many other locations have been suggested but none of them fitted as well as this one. Data strongly indicate that Vermeer painted his famous picture from the back parlour of his mother's house looking over the Voldersgracht.
