- Sunset refers here to Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, Calif., and to the night clubs along what was known as Sunset Strip.
- The title was changed to Platinum when it played Nov. 12-Dec. 10, 1978, at Mark Hellinger Theatre, New York, N.Y. Bruce Vilanch had replaced LaRusso as Holt's collaborator on the book. Joe Layton directed a still larger cast led by Alexis Smith.
