Summary

This master class/performance was the second session (2:30-4:30) of the first annual symposium of the Tureck Bach Institute Inc. Classical guitarist and educator Sharon Isbin (one of Rosalyn Tureck's students) leads a master class on how to play several of J. S. Bach's Lute suites using cross-fingering, embellishments and transcription. On CD 1, Isbin performs the Sarabande from Lute suite in E minor twice, and uses excerpts from several other suites as examples. On CD 2, Isbin's student Paul Bowman performs three movements from J. S. Bach's Lute suite in G minor (BWV 995: Allemande, Courant, Sarabande), followed by further discussion of the performance itself.
