The sketch by Christian Holder depicts a ballerina in full panoply of tutu, tiara, and false eyelashes, seated in a shabby dressing room with her feet immersed in a tub of steaming water.

- Bella Malinka, a dancer, choreographer, and educator, taught ballet at New York's School of Performing Arts (later Fiorello H. La Guardia High School of Music and Arts) from its inception in 1949 until 1981. Among her students was Christian Holder, who became a principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet.
