Details
- Description
- 3 drawings : conté crayon, color; 31 x 31 cm. or smaller.
- Summary
- Three satirical drawings of members of the Humphrey-Weidman dance company. The drawing identified on the verso as "José Limón as he appeared at rehearsals of the Humphrey-Weidman concert company" depicts the dancer with a bandage tied in a bow on his left big toe. "Pauline Lawrence on tour with the infamous boxes of the Humphrey-Weidman concert company" juxtaposes Lawrence, dressed in street clothes and carrying a banner reading Excelsior, against a map of the United States, trailed by the boxes of graduated sizes that formed the set of Doris Humphrey's dance work Passacaglia and fugue in C minor (1938). The drawing labeled "How about an organic air raid" is described on the verso as: "Air raid sequence from This passion as performed at some college on a lecture platform sans any stage illusion, but with a complete organ and pipes as background."
