- Biography (note)
- The musical My fair lady (music, Frederick Loewe; book and lyrics, Alan Jay Lerner; based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion) was first performed at the Mark Hellinger Theatre, New York, in 1956. Since then, it has been revived many times. This design was created for the 1988 revival at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, which was choreographed by Donald Saddler, the donor of this design. This revival was directed by James de Beaujeu Domville, who took over after the death of Jean Gascon, and the cast featured John Neville, the festival's artistic director, as Henry Higgins, opposite Lucy Peacock as Eliza Doolittle. Saddler also choreographed a revival on Broadway in 1993, directed by Howard Davies.
- Lewis Brown, 1928-2011, designed costumes for theatre, opera, and ballet. A native of California, he moved to New York in the 1950s, and worked for television before making his first New York costume designs for the New York City Ballet's production of Medea in 1958. He designed many productions for the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, Calif., and worked frequently for regional theatres.
- Over the course of a long and distinguished career, Donald Saddler, b. 1918, has been a dancer, choreographer, director, and producer, with credits in ballet, opera, musical theatre, drama, film, and television.
