Summary
Three informal sketches of dancer and choreographer Roberto Lorca. A portrait in casual clothes is labeled "Bobby Lorca, 11-28-71, watching dress rehersal [sic], Dade County Auditorium." A second drawing made on the same date is labeled "Lorca surrounded by female admirers, Miami 11.28.71, dress rehersal [sic]." An untitled drawing made in 1973 shows the dancer with arms and legs outflung in an x shape.

  • Roberto Lorca, an American-born Spanish dancer and choreographer, began his career at age 16 with the José Greco Dance Company, and performed with many notables of the Spanish dancing world. He was the founder and director of the Spanish Dance Arts Company in New York City from 1983 until his death in 1987. Ferdie Pacheco, born in 1927, is a noted painter whose many talents also include writing, criticism, broadcasting, acting, and public speaking. His wife Luisita Sevilla de Pacheco compiled the book Roberto Lorca: a tribute to a flamenco dancer (1988).
