- Depiction of a moment from Scene VI of La famille du porteur d'eau. A woman and a man in working clothes dance together, linking hands. At background left is a metal can with what appears to be a yoke for carrying, as is appropriate for the water carrier of the title. At right a second man dances, his arms in the air.

- La famille du porteur d'eau, a vaudeville in one act written by Francis, Dartois, and Gabriel, was first performed at the Théâtre des Variétés, Paris, in 1824.
- This print was published by the firm of Martinet as part of the series Petite galerie dramatique. The publisher assigned it two numbers rather than the usual one, probably because it is approximately twice as wide as most of the prints in the series, with a landscape rather than portrait orientation on the page.
