Description
1 print : lithograph, b&w; 22 x 28 cm.
Summary
Sequential depiction of a dance in three rows of tiny figures, most of them less than 3 cm. in height. The fourth row, at top, is devoted to musicians who play various instruments. All of the male figures are portrayed as solid black silhouettes with minimal detail, though the males in the first row of dancers wear and doff rudimentary hats. The females are depicted in more detail, wearing calf-length skirts with different decorations; their headdresses also vary. The sequence begins with the dancers bowing to each other in the second row from the top, and follows the couples through a series of movements, including jumps. The male figures appear to be more athletic than the females.
