Summary
Michael is a disillusioned African American high school student who dreams of a career as an artist, but he finds little encouragement growing up in New York's Crown Heights district, where crime and drugs run rampant. Meanwhile, Judy Burke, a television reporter, is willing to deny her own Jewish heritage in order to achieve success. One day, Michael finds that one of his teachers is dealing drugs to students. Michael isn't sure if he should expose his teacher's wrongdoings when he meets Judy who could bring this story into the open. When drug-related violence erupts in their neighborhood, their feelings of alienation and frustration spur them on to confront their anger and fears.
