- Summary
- Mills, one of the members of the four-part vocal harmony group The Mills Brothers, tells Whitesell, a collector of recordings and a journalist at "Goldmine Magazine," how they started and how their career quickly propelled due to the originality of their style and independent arrangements and how they practiced imitating orchestral instruments. He stressed the importance in those days of radio exposure and its dominance over recordings. Mills recounts recording for Brunswick Records and Decca, the controversial song The W.P.A. a song the Mills Brothers and Louis Armstrong performed which was banned by President Roosevelt, and their success and good experiences in touring all over the world with live performances.
