- Summary
- Stewart, a member of the musical group The Fiestas that started as a gospel group in New Jersey in 1958, recounts their rise to stardom from singing a cappella to writing songs that became hits. He speaks about becoming successful in New York, performing in various clubs including the Apollo Theater, recording for Old Town Records, meeting well known musicians some of whom shared their experience and provided useful advice, and relates a few amusing episodes from his professional life. Stewart names the original musicians of The Fiestas and talks about Alan Freed, a famous DJ, and the job of disc jockeys in those days. He compares contemporary music to the music of his time, and points out the vocal superiority of singers of his and previous generations.
