- Summary
- The dances in this program are from the repertoire of Isadora Duncan, as handed down by her students and adopted daughters Anna, Irma, and Lisa Duncan. The performances are as close as possible to the original choreography she created. They are performed by the Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble, a Miami-based dance troupe that endeavors to preserve and promote Isadora Duncan's repertoire. Duncan's style of rising and falling arcs, organic flow, and connectedness to nature were revolutionary in her time, and the dances recorded document the depth of her artistic vision, and the skill with which she developed her small movement vocabulary into a wealth of passionate expression. While a brief biography, the history Duncan's career, and the history of the Ensemble are given in the introduction, the dances presented are Isadora Duncan's true biography, legacy, and the source of her legend.
