Adapted from and inspired by the life of the German monk and church reformer Martin Luther and by the fictional literary characters of Hamlet and Dr. Faustus, said to be based upon Dr. Johann Georg Faust, an alchemist and magician. Individuals and organizations documented in the programs include J. R. Sullivan, Scott Greer, Sean McNall, Chris Mixon, Joey Parsons, the Arden Theatre Company (Philadelphia, Pa.) and the Pearl Theatre Company (New York, N.Y.).
