- Publisher's dark brown ribbed cloth, lettered in yellow. Mounted on front cover is a full-page color illustration, lettered with title and name of author; signed "F" (C.B. Falls). It depicts a soldier carrying a stack of books. The image originated as a poster commissioned by the Library War Service of the American Library Association, with lettering "Books wanted for our men in camp and 'over there.' Take your gifts to the public library." It was also used as a bookplate by the Library War Service.
