- Description
- 1 audio disc (aproximately 48 min.) : digital, mono; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- The interview is probably conducted in New York. Lahr, a burlesque, vaudeville, Broadway and film comedian and actor, defines a real comedian and what it takes to be one. He speaks about the importance of being able to arouse sympathy in the audience by being humble and kind, contributions from the context of a play or a script, mastering elocution that is essential for stage actors, and stresses natural ability of being funny. Other topics include deliberation over the fact that almost all great comedians in real life are serious people with a sense of humor, source for and use of mannerism, a few of Lahr's significant roles, the importance of "practicing talent" and ways to make audiences accept certain novelties.
