- Panel discussion 1: Jason Robert Brown discusses the creation and revival of The Last Five Years, other times he performed in the Works & Process at the Guggenheim series, he describes the show and the motivation for writing it, comparison to his other shows including Parade and Songs for a New World, his own breakup and divorce, winning the Tony for Parade and how it affected his career, changing the song I Could be in Love with Someone Like You to a new song Shiksa Goddess the day before previews started. Panel discussion 2: Jason Robert Brown discusses how he knows if a song is right for a show or not, how long it took him to write this musical, what was he hoping to achieve with the unconventional structure of this musical, the challenges with the structure of this show and the audience reactions, what he learned from Hal Prince (director of Parade), what he wanted to express with his song Shiska Goddess, and how New York City plays a character in the show. Panel discussion 3: Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe discuss their careers leading up to The Last Five Years, how they got this show, Betsy Wolfe talks about moving to New York and auditioning with comparisons to the song Climbing up hill, Adam Kantor talks about getting Rent while still in school at Northwestern University, Jason Robert Brown talks about performing concert versions of this musical and playing piano for the original performances, working as a director, what he wanted to see in this production as the director, and directing 13 in the West End.
