- This play is in 3 acts, but the acts tell separate stories and could be produced independently as one-act plays. The first is a 9-page monologue entitled KAREL, about an Eastern European refugee who grew up in England. The second consists of leaves 10 through 38 and is entitled ELZBIETA ERASED, in which a Polish actress is discussed by 2 men but does not appear as a character. The third act is about the Polish playwright Witold Gombrowitz on leaves 39 through 62 entitled FUNIAGE.
