- Summary
- Tracks 1-3. Austrian singer and actress Lotte Lenya discusses her life and singing career in Europe as well as in the USA, and recalls her husband Kurt Weil, whose songs she successfully performed in both musicals, and concerts. She also speaks about her involvement in political cabaret activities in Berlin, Germany that were very popular in the 1930's before the Nazi party came to power in 1933 and started to repress this intellectual criticism, which finally lead to their closing. The actress shares her memories about the role of Fräulein Schneider that she played in the 1966 Broadway production of the musical Cabaret, and compares it to the 1972 film adaptation in which many numbers, played by Lenya, were discarded. Lenya also talks about her personal and professional recovery after Weill's death in 1950.
