- Note
- "Le prix est de 30 sols ... Avec privilege du Roy." Privilege, dated July 21, 1724: 4 pages at end (not present in all copies).
- Title page epigraph: "Aestuat ingens imo in corde pudor, mixto quae [sic] insania luctu, et furiis agitatus amor, &c." Some copies have a revised setting of gathering pi, in which "mixto quae" on title page is corrected to "mixtoque" and the list of "Acteurs" on preliminary page 20 is augmented by two roles following "Suite d'Hérode." Several other minor variations (in gatherings ã, C and F) were apparently introduced while this edition was in the press; for detailed account, see Freyne (cited below).
- NYPL copy: Gathering pi in original state, with "mixto quae" in epigraph and without addtions to "Acteurs." Of other variations mentioned by Freyne, NYPL copy has original readings except for the corrections "Mithridate," preliminary page 16, and "reconnoissance," page 36.
- The first authorized edition, preceded by two unauthorized edtions (Freyne 25CB and 25X). Afterwards published in revised form under title: Mariamne.
- A counterfeit of this edition (Freyne 25Pc) reprints the text line for line but uses different ornaments, with unsigned woodcut headpieces; other distinguishing points include the lack of a full stop folowing "pont" in Flahault's address on title page.
- On title page, publisher's names are joined by an accolade following "Chez."
- Printer's imprint from colophon, leaf F8v.
- One of the copies seen by Bengesco (BN no. 929; BnF Rés. p-Yf-393, available online via Gallica) contains an additional preliminary bifolium, unsigned, containing 3 blank pages and a dedication "A la Reine."
- Signatures: pi² (pi1+ã⁸) A-F⁸ chi².
- Type flower title page ornament; woodcut headpieces and tailpiece; type flower tailpieces and rules; factotums. Headpieces comprise a cut signed V.LS, used for the preface and acts 1-4, and a cut signed PIB (PIR?), used for act 5.
