Summary
In the first half of the recording, Ken Dewey interviews famed poet Allen Ginsberg during an anti-Vietnam War rally (Tracks 1: 0:00-Track 6: 0:52). Ginsberg talks about his work, the world at large, narcotics, politics, and sings an unidentified Tibetan Buddhist chant with finger cymbals (Track 2: 1:39-2:30). During the interview a tear-gas bomb was ignited by a passerby, and Ginsberg describes the scene happening outside. In the second half of the recording, Dewey talks to the rally organizer (Track 6: 0:53-Track 7: 3:48), and he recorded excerpts of speeches and announcements at the rally (Track 7: 3:49-Track 8: 4:19), crowd sounds and anti-Vietnam songs performed by the Instant Action Jug Band (?) ("Stop! In the name of love" [12 sec. end excerpt] / Holland-Dozier-Holland (Track 8: 4:20-4:32), "Vietnam song" (I-feel-like-I'm-fixin'-to-die rag") / Country Joe McDonald (Track 9: 0:04-3:15), "Wild about my lovin'" / J. Jackson [ends abruptly] (Track 9: 3:23-Track 10: 0:54) and "(Won't you come home) Bill Bailey" [excerpt, ends abruptly] (Track 10: 0:57-1:59)).
