Note
  • The papers in these two volumes present some of the work resulting from the research project 'The Social and Cultural Construction of Emotions: the Greek Paradigm' at the University of Oxford (2009-2013). The project was funded by an Advanced Investigator Grant from the European Research Council. This same grant also provided the funds for a Table Ronde, 'Emotions as Historical Factor', which took place during the 21st International Congress of Historical Sciences in Amsterdam (26 August, 2010). The majority of the papers in volume 2 were originally written for the Table Ronde. Some additional papers for volume 2 were added in order to provide a representative sample of approaches to emotions in Greece and Rome by historians.
