Summary

The A. J. Balaban and Carrie Balaban papers document the Balaban family primarily through correspondence and family albums. The correspondence includes letters from the Balabans' daughter Cherry while she entertained with the USO during World War II, letters from friends living in Europe during World War II, and materials about the book entitled Continuous Performance, the autobiography of A. J. Balaban. The collection also holds information about the Balabans' involvement with the Church of Christ, Scientist. Photograph albums and scrapbooks about the family, a scrapbooks about Nora Bayes, and some records about A. J. Balaban's business activities are the remainder of the collection.
