- "General Burgoyne's proclamation" is from the Providence gazette of Aug. 16th, 1777. The account of the death of Jane M'Crea consists of a letter from Asa Fitch (published in the Proceedings of the Historical society of New Jersey, v. 5, p. 164) and some extracts from Charles Nellson's account of Burgoyne's campaign.
