Translation variously attributed to Richard Graves and Daniel Malthus, but probably made by the latter, based on the French version of Georges Deyverdun, published under the title: Werther (Maastricht, 1776). The second work, published anonymously, was written by William James in allusion to Goethe's The sorrows of Werter.
