Summary
Documents the migration of African Americans from the rural, segregated, South to Chicago. Uses archival footage, still-photographs, and interviews with Chicago residents, to discuss the social and economic conditions of blacks in Chicago, from the beginning of the pre-World War II migration through 1970. Episode 4, "More angry than afraid," chronicles Martin Luther King's campaign to encourage racial integration in Chicago and features archival footage of King and Mayor Richard J. Daley.
