- Description
- 1 streaming audio file (approximately 67 min.) : digital, mono.
- Summary
- Richard Lewine, a composer and songwriter on Broadway, reminisces about Larry Hart (Lorenz Milton Hart), the lyricist, half of the Broadway songwriting team Rodgers and Hart until his (Hart's) early death; Rodgers, Hammerstein and Hart collaboration; how Irving Berlin ended up writing "Annie take your gun" instead of Jerome Kern; the Gershwins; Vernon Duke (whom he describes in the most unflattering manner); people in music publishing; Cole Porter and The Prince of Wales (a huge Porter fan); and many others who comprised the driving force of show business in New York. This interview contains a lot of remarks about individual qualities of many well known people in the performing arts, and therefore were not included in the book.
