- Summary
- This recording is of a cello and piano rehearsal, and the audition of the cellist, for playing an unidentified section of what is likely Morton Feldman's Durations. The main voice on the recording is likely Gordon Mumma, based on his being named by one of the other male speakers near the end of the recording, as well as the collection context for this recording. The female cello player and voice is that of a music student, Jenna Mepkie, who is named and being auditioned in the recording; her school affiliation is unknown. There are several additional unidentified male speakers on the recording. Several references to Morton Feldman and the conversation over various compositional components of the score imply that Feldman is not present during the recording. Parts of the score are played intermittently with conversations about technical aspects of the score, as well as some personal conversations. There are brief trumpet sounds in the background near the end of the recording.
