Summary
  • Disc 1 (approximately 13 minutes). Marian Horosko, as host on the radio program Profiles, introduces her guests Paul Curtis and Roger Englander; Curtis, founder and director of the American Mime Theatre, speaks about how he first became interested in mime, in Europe; the evolution of different schools of mime; Marcel Marceau, Charlie Chaplin, and Cantiflas; his syllabus for teaching American mime; Englander's description of American mime; his company [The American MIme Theatre] and its repertoire; his hopes to continue to disseminate the performing and teaching of American mime.
  • Disc 2 (approximately 7 minutes). Marian Horosko, as host on the radio program Profiles, introduces her guest Roger Englander; Englander speaks about his professional background, in music; his work as a producer and director, in particular, the filming of concerts for television.

  • Interviews with Paul Curtis (disc 1: approximately 13 minutes) and with Roger Englander (disc 2; approximately 7 minutes); conducted by Marian Horosko, as host, on the series, Profiles, on radio station WNCN-FM, New York, at the Russian Tea Room in New York City. The interviews were conducted in the 1960s, probably in 1964 or 1965.
  • Sound quality is good on disc 1 and fair on disc 2. The recording is marred by extraneous noise (in particular on disc 2), and there is mild "tape hiss," but the speakers' voices are easily legible.
