Summary
"Portable" is the exhibition presenting different electronic devices, made by artists of various nationalities. The common feature of all the new technology objects, is that they are transportable, and hence, portable. Given the nature of each piece especially made for this exhibition, the objects were tested in different public spaces in the city of Santiago, and documented in video. The exhibition reflects on the urban space, establishing two types of relationships: a theoretical where each piece takes a topic into account - such as control systems, consumption, new systems of food production and gender-, and another practice, where each piece needs to operate different systems of communication, ranging from basic electronics to the use of software created especially for the occasion, or systems of communication such as Twitter or SMS. The selection of artists included: Michelle Teran (Canada), Chimbalab (Art and Technology laboratory consisting of Claudia González and Conztanza Piña based in Santiago, Chile), Alejandra Pérez (Chile), Carolina Pino (Chile), Collective GraphTech (México), artists Otto Von Busch (Sweden), and Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga (United States) along with Kurt Olmstead (United States), financial specialist and intelligent business developer.
