- Disc 1 (approximately 29 minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by unidentified speaker.] Marian Horosko, host, on the radio program World of Dance, introduces her guest Ted Shawn; Shawn speaks about Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, in particular the artists and companies who will be appearing in the 1965 season; his view of government subsidies; more on the artists and works to be presented; his pride in the achievements of American dance over the past 50 years; male dancers including his own contribution to their status as respected artists; Horosko's concluding remarks and introduction of a recording of Jess Meeker playing Erik Satie's Gnossienne, used by Shawn in his work Gnossienne [no. 1]; [continues on disc 2].

Recording of Erik Satie's Gnossienne is played; Marian Horosko introduces and plays a recording of the music [by Anis Fuleihan] used by Ted Shawn in his work Whirling dervish; Horosko introduces and plays a recording of the music, by Ernesto Lecuona y Casado, used by Shawn in his work Cutting of the sugar cane.

Reiss; Reiss introduces his guest, Selma Jeanne Cohen, dance writer and editor of Dance perspectives; Cohen speaks about Dance perspectives including the journal's general format [at approximately 1:20 minutes into track 6, there are two short gaps; the recording resumes with a reiteration of approximately 1:20 minutes of the first part of track 6]; various specific articles and topics that have appeared in Dance perspectives; writing about dance including how her background led her to this field; dancers and writers from other areas as potential dance writers; [announcements and closing remarks by Horosko followed by music and additional closing remarks by an unidentified speaker].

- Interview with Ted Shawn (disc 1, tracks 3-8: approximately 26 minutes), conducted by Marian Horosko, as host; and interview with Selma Jeanne (disc 2, tracks 6-8: approximately 14 minutes), conducted by Alvin H. Reiss as host, in New York City, both for the series, World of Dance, on radio station WNYC-FM, New York. The interviews were conducted on or for broadcast on May 25, 1965. The recordings also include recorded music and introductory and closing remarks and announcements by Horosko, Reiss, and an unidentified speaker.
- Sound quality is good. Disc 1 is marred by occasional extraneous noise, and disc 2 has two short gaps and a brief reiteration of material from earlier in the recording. However, the speakers' voices are easily intelligible.

- Local Note
- The interview with Ted Shawn contained on disc 1, tracks 3-5, is the same interview with Shawn that evidently was broadcast on May 30, 1965 for the radio program Profiles. This latter interview was preserved using a different archival original (*MGZTO 7-2957) and separately cataloged as *MGZTL 4-2957. In order to avoid confusion, the record for that recording has been suppressed from the public catalog.
