Summary

Created by controller of the State of Sao Paulo Fernando Costa, between 1942 and 1945, the schools of Agriculture Practices constitute a significant episode of government action in the State, although scarcely known. This book investigates the processes of design, project and implementation of these schools, seeking to identify, from its architecture, the interweaving of various political projects. These crosscutting projects range from its insertion in national project designed by the "Novo" State and the continuity of senses assigned to shapes and plastic languages; everyday negotiations by affirming the professional or political fields. In this scenario the adoption of neo-colonial architecture was a central aspect of the design of schools, and the ideological discourse, was the constituent elements of this formal language gained an importance meaning defining new constructions for the collective imaginery.
