- Summary
- Discussion 1: Christopher Wheeldon discusses why he wanted to start a new company now; his input of not only creating steps but creating movement for dancers, and helping dancers to discover new things about themselves during this collaboration; how Wheeldon and Lourdes Lopez got together to form Morphoses; when did they decide to actually start this company; some of the challenges of running this company including a story by Lopez of quickly needing to find a violinist for a Vail performance. Discussion 2: Defining the vision/mission of the company, and the importance of spending time together as a company outside of rehearsals; collaborative relationship with the dancers and production staff; the impressions/differences that Lopez has observed with Wheeldon and his use of description with images and phrasing, compared to other choreographers. Discussion 3: Collaboration with photographer Bill Cooper and the photographs shown at the beginning of the evening; how the visual arts fit into this company; working with five other choreographers this season including William Forsythe and the importance of his dialogue with Forsythe.
