Summary

The present exhibition is the consequence of the photographic research in various areas of the city of Mexico (particularly in the Colonia Santa Maria La Ribera), where architect and artist Javier Hinojosa (Mexico City, 1974) documented improvised constructions in public spaces used as solutions to urban situations. Hinojosa finds inspiration in the use of old furniture or branches to mark a hole in the pavement, in concrete canisters and "huacales" (wood crates) used to delimit parking spaces and seats and benches built in public with fragments of chairs and boxes. The exhibition comprises five large-scale sculptures made with bricks, cement and carton, as well as photographs, sketches and drawings that show the process of research and documentation.
