- Summary
- Singer Martha Schlamme discusses her life and career in this two-part interview with host Rian Keating. She reminisces about her childhood in Vienna during the 1930s, when the Nazis were coming to power, her escape to England and subsequent wartime experiences, and the development of her skill as a singer. The work of Kurt Weill, a favorite of Schlamme's, is examined. She performs his song Pirate Jenny and discusses it, and also talks about her career as a teacher.
