Biography (note)
  • George Bockman, who died in 1979, was a graduate of Pratt Institute. He was best known as a dancer, choreographer, and stage designer. These drawings represent his work in architectural drawing and interior design.

  • Folder 1. Architectural designs for Arbuckle House, Brewster, Mass. R.J. Sullivan, Architect (47 Commercial Wharf, Boston, Mass.). Photostats of architectural drawings. Includes: Floor plan and specifications (5 copies), Details (4 copies), Elevations (4 copies), and Structurals (4 copies).
  • Folder 2. Architectural designs for Hostatter, Inc. The projects for various clients are attributed to various decorators. All are drawn and signed by George Bockman, A.I.D. Includes designs for furniture, cabinetry, and panelled walls: 9 blueprints and 1 drawing (includes detailed views) .
  • Folder 3. Architectural designs for the residences of Miss. S. Berson, Mr. & Mrs. J. Selden, and Mr. & Mrs. Herman Michaelis (LaGrangeville, New York). Includes designs for cabinetry and panelled walls, and a floorplan: 4 blueprints; and 1 drawing.
  • Folder 4. Reproduction of a drawing for an interior design identified as the "Rheingold Rest." Client: J.W. Anderson Adv. This design may have been for Rheingold's "Little Old New York" attraction at the 1964 World's Fair. One drawing (photoreproduction).
  • Folder 5. Interior designs for a conference room (with a view overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge). Includes 4 mixed media paintings (graphite, watercolor, crayon, watercolor, etc.; on paper, watercolor paper, and board) and 1 negative photostat of a drawing. The designs show different color schemes and finish materials for the furniture, walls, floors, and fixtures.
  • Folder 6. Interior design for an office (2 views). Two drawings in graphite on onionskin paper mounted in a gray paper frame on a black matte board.
