- "The proofs on India paper are limited to one hundred and fifty copies"--Title page. Relates to the deluxe edition; Kahan (cited below) states that only 100 copies were actually issued, and that an ordinary edition was originally advertised as limited to 600 copies, but only 100 were actually issued.
- Preface dated April, 1887. Some sources give date of publication as 1888; Kahan (cited below) gives 1887.
- Portfolio contains booklet with introduction and descriptive text and 12 loose sheets with 12 photogravure reproductions of photographs of various sizes. In the deluxe copies, the images are proofs, printed chine collé. "The twelve plates accompanying the text have been printed from copper-plates, reproduced from my original negatives, taken directly from nature"--Introduction, pages ix-x.
- Booklet illustrated with decorative head- and tailpieces and initials.
