- In Moses Asch tribute, Ginsberg praises generous and adventurous spirit of the Folkway Records founder as seen in his responses to Ginsberg’s suggestions, including Tibetan mantra chants and William Carlos Williams reading, and in contrast with John Hammond’s helplessness and Columbia and other record companies declining to issue “a decade’s well-wrought poetry songs (First Blues); Ginsberg “learned what blues I know from Folkways-Smith collections”; “In Age & culture notorious for exploitation & selfishness, Mr. Asch’s archiving energy has been objective work of American Bodhisattvahood.”
