- The late Lionel Halloran's wife Maryjane maintains that his stepmother Orianna--who stands to inherit the family home--murdered him by pushing him down the stairs. Orianna immediately takes control of the house and its occupants. But household members begin to have visions about the end of the world, which come to pass, at least for Orianna, when her dead body is discovered on the landing.
