Note
  • Compiled by The Billy Rose Theatre Division, The New York Public Library.
  • Five reviews of Opus No. 7 by Dmitry Krymov. This history of oppression of Jews in Russia for 2 centuries opened Jan. 13, 2013, at St. Ann's Warehouse, 29 Jay Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. The second act is devoted to the ordeals of composer Dmitri Shostakovich, who is played by a woman in a Charlie-Chaplin-little-tramp characterization. There is little spoken Russian dialogue with English supertitles throughout the play. The director/author's concentration is on visuals.
  • Reviewed by Ben Brantley in The New York Times, David Cote in Time Out New York, Elisabeth Vincentelli in New York Post, Jason Fitzgerald for Backstage.com and by Rebecca Bernard for Showbusinessweekly.com.
