- In the spring of 2001, the Getty Research Institute conducted a two-day symposium on the work and legacy of Harry Smith. The symposium featured academic papers, multimedia presentations, as well as a showing of Harry Smith's films and a musical performance inspired by the Anthology of American Folk Music. Organizers include Thomas Crow, Karen Stokes, Andrew Perchuk and Rani Singh.
