Summary
Essays. Frederic Marcelin (1848-1917) was a Haitian writer and politician. He was Chief of the Haitian Department of Finance from 1892-1894 under President Hippolyte and again 1905-1908 in the administration of President Nord Alexis. In 1905, Marcelin establishes the journal Haïti littéraire et sociale. He is best known for his novels Marilisse (1903), La Vengeance de Mama (1902), and Thémistocle Epaminondas Labasterre (1901).
