- Summary
- Leida Snow interviews Julie Harris, American stage, screen, and television actress. Harris talks about her career in film, television, and theatre, and various roles she played, such as the role of Karen Blixen ("Lucifer's child"), the Danish baroness who, under the pen name Isak Dinesen, wrote the shimmering autobiography "Out of Africa" and "Seven Gothic tales." "The solo play" is by William Luce, who wrote "The belle of Amherst" for Miss Harris; the actress commissioned both works. She speaks about other roles that she commissioned playwrights to create for her as one woman performance, on remarkable women, from Emily Dickinson to Charlotte Bronte to Sonia Tolstoy, and took them later on the road to colleges and small cities and large cities and sometimes even to Broadway. She also discusses her personal life, her influences, and her relationships with her friends and colleagues, actors, playwrights and producers and directors with whom she used to work during her long-term acting career.
- News conference about actor Jonathan Pryce's casting in a Eurasian role in the stage musical Miss Saigon. Pryce, who performed in the show in London, was initially barred from appearing in the Broadway production by Actors' Equity Association. (AEA later reversed the decision).
