Summary
Rufino Tamayo, considered one of the greatest and most important painters of 20th-century Mexico developed a totally unknown facet as a photographer in Mexico and during his numerous trips abroad. The set of photographs he took include those of New York, city of relevant importance in his work, where he lived between 1937 and 1949. The artist photographed the modernity of New York in an intense color (Kodachrome), focusing on the bridges that connect the island of Manhattan with the rest of New York neighborhoods, the skyline of the city, mainly at night with images of Times Square. Tamayo participated fully in the movement of "Early color photography".
