Summary
  • Facsimile reprint of the original edition. Original title page reads: Passio Christi ab Alberto Durer Nurenbergensi effigiata cu[m] varij generis carminibus Fratris Benedicti Chelidonij Musophili. Original colophon reads: Impressum Nurnberge : Per Albertu[m] Durer pictore[m], [1511] (date expresed in Latin words), followed by warning against piracy. Illustrations are copies of the title page image and 36 full-page woodcuts designed by Albrecht Dürer for the original edition. As in the original, leaves are gathered and signed in 8s.
  • Includes, on title page and pages facing the full-page images, Latin verses on themes of the prints by Benedictus Chelidonius; on verso of last image are laudatory verses by Chelidonius, addressed to Willibald Pirckheimer, and by Pirckheimer and Johannes Cochlaeus. Verses originally published approximately 1508 in a work with title: Passio Iesu Christi saluatoris mundi vario carminu[m] genere F. Benedicti Chelidonij Musophili doctissime descripta.
